Your Future Rewritten : Where Optimal Health and balance await. The first step is reaching for them.

Optimal Health

The Take Shape for Life program, a wholly owned subsidiary of Medifast, Inc.,  was co-founded by Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen, the program’s main “architect”.

Dr. Andersen trained in open heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic and then went on to train for two years at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami, considered to be the premier training program in the country in surgical intensive care.

Dr. Andersen became the tenth physician Board Certified in Critical Care and went back to the institution where he began his post graduate training, to set up the open heart program and surgical intensive care unit.

It was here that Dr. Andersen developed a profound understanding of the pivotal role that nutrition plays in disease and health.

For eighteen years, Dr. Andersen directed the Surgical Critical Care Program at Grandview and was Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology. In 2000, he made a monumental decision to leave his hospital-based practice to devote his full energy to helping people to become and to stay healthy.

Dr. Andersen, affectionately known as “Doc A”, has published a book and workbook that act as the blue print for how anyone can attain the measure of Optimal Health specific to them as an individual. That measure may differ between people because we do not all start at the same place, we are not the same age, nor do we all have the same genetics or health issues.

Regardless of where we are at now, most of us can get to a healthier state, even if we are struggling with a chronic health condition [not related to a metabolic disorder - Take Shape for Life will help you address that] or a physical challenge.  We won’t all end up marathon runners but everyone who undertakes the Take Shape for Life program with sincerity will be healthier, and the goal is to be as optimally healthy as we can each be.
